Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Greetings one and all,

Here is the Math homework for a Tuesday night:

Kiwi Group:  page 107
*You MAY certainly challenge yourself by working on page 108, but it's not required.

Papaya and Mango Groups:  pages 107 and 108

*All groups please note that the Unit 4 test is next Wednesday!

Tonight, don't forget the new terms:

Factors are found in PAIRS, and are two number that can be multiplied together to get a product

We also can list factors of a number, for example:

12:  1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 are the factors of 12

Composite numbers are numbers that have more than 2 factors

Prime numbers are number that only have 2 factors (7, 11, 13, 17, 19....)

Enjoy Math students,

MR. K

Greetings one and all,

Here is the Math homework for the groups:

Kiwis:  We did the first 4 problems together on 101.  Finish that page and do 1-8 on 102.

*Remember 2 step problems here...read them slowly and one sentence at a time.  Use parentheses to separate what the first step of the problem needs to be.

Papaya and Mangoes:  We also did some of page 101 together.  Finish it, then move on to all of page 102.

Best efforts as always on the Stretch Your Thinking.

Go Get'em!!

(We are working on setting up equations using Snowfall Last Winter chart on the right side of page 99.  The Remembering page is also excellent practice.  Students may use any method they choose to complete the multiplication and division practice).

Greetings Math Students:

Here is the homework for a Thursday night:

Kiwi Group:  Finish page 97 and do 1-4 on page 98

Papaya and Mango Groups:  all of 97 and 98

*All groups will have a Mini Quiz next week Tuesday.

Remember we are working with Comparison word problems.  Our job is to identify the two items in the problem, and determine which is the larger and which is the smaller item and then use our operations to help us get there.

If you get stuck with one part of the problem (the equation or the answer) at least try to work on the other part, it may help you get UNSTUCK.  Work to tell me what you know, even if it doesn't completely get you the answer.

Have a great practice.

Good Morning Math Students,

I know it's a snow day today, but maybe you want to keep your amazing math skills going strong...so, how about a challenge problem?

Peach Plains Elementary School is looking to plant trees along a 250 foot fence.  If the plan is to space the trees 10 feet apart, how many trees do we need?  Remember that we want a tree at the beginning of the row and at the end.

There you go.  Come ready with your answer on Monday for a bonus.

Have a great and safe weekend.
